Funds to provide diapers, wipes, and formula

(SALT LAKE CITY, UT – MARCH 9, 2023) ) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation donated $2,500 to Family Promise Salt Lake. The donation will be used to provide diapers, wipes, and formula for homeless children.

“Family Promise works with the community to minimize the impact of homelessness,” said Brian Diggs, executive director for Family Promise Salt Lake. “Thanks to this generous donation from the Security Service Charitable Foundation, we are able to help families find short-term solutions to homelessness and long-term stability for years to come.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation’s donation will be used to purchase diapers, wipes, and baby formula. The families who utilize the organization’s resources start out homeless; Most of the families are single women with children. Family Promise assists with food, diapers, wipes, baby formula, and other necessities as families work through the program.

“Family Promise gives homeless families a better opportunity for success by helping them get off the streets,” said Jami Gebhardt, assistant vice president of member service—Mountain West Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “It’s incredible to support such a great organization that is making a difference in this community and in these families’ lives.”

Family Promise Salt Lake was founded in 1995 and was the first program of its kind in Utah. The organization has two congregations that take turns opening their doors to provide temporary shelter to four families at a time. Their unique shelter model mobilizes existing resources within the community to take a hands-on approach to homelessness.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
