SECURITY SERVICE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION DONATES $2,500 TO HELP HOMELESS VETERANS

Money supplies 300 food-insecure families with pantry staples

(SAN ANTONIO, TX – APRIL 12, 2023) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation donated $2,500 to Endeavors of San Antonio, Texas. This donation will be used to purchase beds, bedding, and cleaning and hygienic supplies for approximately 50 veterans in need.

“We’ve seen a huge increase in the amount of people we serve in the last couple of years,” said Traci Gomez, chief of development and communications for Endeavors. “This donation from the Security Service Charitable Foundation makes it possible to carry out our mission and help vulnerable people, like the veterans we serve, get back on their feet.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation’s donation will help at-risk veterans who have been homeless and are now moving into apartments. In addition to bedding and supplies, the money will also help purchase hygienic products for veterans who may still be homeless.

“Veterans have sacrificed so much for our freedom, so it’s our privilege to help those in need,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of community and media relations for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We’re happy to support an organization that provides comprehensive, effective, and innovative services that allow people in crisis to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.”

Endeavors began in 1969 as an effort to serve San Antonio’s inner-city communities. The organization serves veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless through Veteran Supportive Services. Endeavors went from assisting 46,000 clients in 2020 to more than 80,000 last year.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
