SECURITY SERVICE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION DONATES $5,000 TO FOOD BANK OF THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY

Donation to provide fuel for distributions and food deliveries

(PHARR, TX – APRIL 13, 2023) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation donated $5,000 to Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc. of Pharr, Texas. This donation will be used to purchase fuel needed for distributions and food deliveries.

“Our organization has been serving the Valley for the last 37 years,” said Libby A. Saenz, chief executive officer for Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc. “It’s because of generous donations like this one from the Security Service Charitable Foundation that we are able to feed the less fortunate.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation’s donation will be used toward fuel costs for an entire month of distributions. Food deliveries and distributions are carried out throughout the entire South Texas region (Hidalgo/Willacy/Cameron counties).

“This organization is deserving of this donation because the impact of ensuring the delivery of this food is critical to the needs of the community,” said Julie Balboa, vice president of member service—South Texas region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “Being able to assist with the cost of fuel is going to make sure the benefactors of these deliveries get the help they so desperately need.”

The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc. was incorporated in 1986 and has grown to be the largest charity in south Texas, based on clients it serves. Up to 146,000 people in the Valley experience food insecurity. The organization is committed to improving lives through food assistance, nutrition education, and access to community services.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
