Hurricane Season (Gulf Coast)

Make sure your business is covered for hurricane season before the insurance carriers release binding restrictions. Hurricane season in the Gulf Coast runs June through November each year with August, September, and October being the highest probability for landfall. Give us a call at 1.844.479.7736 and let’s discuss your business insurance policy to make sure you and your investments are covered.

Binding Restriction Information:

Our carriers have various binding restrictions that prevent exposure to risks not previously covered. When a named storm enters the Gulf of Mexico or a watch/warning has been issued, the following restrictions are placed in effect for properties that can be effected by the storm as well as your automobile and other possessions that you have insured:

  • New Policies may not be issued
  • Existing Coverage cannot be increased
  • Renewal coverage with your current carrier cannot be bound with coverages higher than your expiring limits

Depending on the strength of the storm, binding restrictions can last for quite some time.

Winter Weather

Winter weather brings cold, ice, and snow, and can pose a serious risk to your business. The good news is, you can prepare ahead of time by taking the right steps and securing the proper insurance coverage.

Frozen Pipes

Water damage from frozen pipes is a leading cause of property damage. You can prepare your building by insulating pipes, maintaining a consistent temperature when you’re away from the building, and have a plan for back-up power in the event of a power outage to keep your building warm.

Roof Collapse from Snow

The weight of snow can cause serious damage to your roof and potentially equipment or inventory inside the building if the roof caves in. In the event of a heavy snowstorm, be sure to have the snow regularly removed from your roof.

Slip-and-Fall Accidents

Falls due to icy walkways can impact customers, visitors, and employees. The right liability coverage and workers’ compensation insurance can protect your business from costly accidents and even lawsuits.

Severe Weather Closures

Winter storms have the potential to shut down businesses for days or even weeks. Business income insurance can help you replace lost include during temporary shutdowns.
